Settings:
- Firmware R26.04.0 / r7660; MCU Firmware RA2E1260306000
- Car/UPS mode is enabled with a 1-minute power-off delay after power loss.
- Auto shutdown is enabled after 2 minutes of no Wi-Fi clients.
Situation 1:
Router is off, external power is disconnected, then external power is reconnected.
Expected behavior:
The router should turn on relatively quickly after external power is restored.
Actual behavior:
After restoring external power, the router doesn’t respond for a while (this can range from a few seconds to several tens of seconds).
Then, the yellow/orange indicator lights up and starts flashing slowly.
After a certain period (from a few seconds to several minutes), the green indicator turns on, and the router starts booting.
Note: In Direct Power mode, there is also a delay between power connection and indicator response (usually under 30 seconds), but the router powers on quickly afterward.
Situation 2:
Router is on, and external power is automatically restored with UPS mode active. After some time, external power is disconnected.
Expected behavior:
A log entry should appear in the Power Event Log, similar to the “No Wi-Fi clients” event (e.g., "Idle Countdown Started No Wi-Fi clients, countdown started").
After X minutes (1 minute in my test), a log entry should be generated similar to the "No Wi-Fi clients" event (e.g., "Idle Shutdown Triggered No Wi-Fi clients for X minutes"), and the router should automatically shut down.
Actual behavior:
No entries are made in the Power Event Log.
Some users have reported that the automatic shutdown doesn’t trigger after external power is disconnected in Car/UPS mode.
However, in my tests, the router does shut down after the configured time.
Suggested Improvements:
- Improve Car/UPS Mode to ensure the router powers on as quickly as possible after external power is restored.
- Add additional logging in the Power Event Log for Car/UPS Mode events to make troubleshooting easier.
- Add logging for the event when the router boots into Car/UPS mode due to automatic power restoration (rather than manual power-on via the button). This would help distinguish between automatic power-on and manual power-on, as the automatic shutdown feature may not work (even in Car/UPS mode) if the router is powered on manually.
