Hi,
I use a Photonicat 2 running photonicatWrt 26.04.1 (rockchip/armv8, kernel 6.12.91), with LTE as the uplink and an AmneziaWG tunnel to my own server.
Without AmneziaWG support, I'm unable to use the router in Russia. Plain WireGuard and OpenVPN are blocked there by DPI, and AmneziaWG is the de facto standard workaround. Many Photonicat users in Russia and other countries with DPI face the same problem.
Please add the AmneziaWG packages to the photonicatWrt feed, ideally starting with the upcoming apk-based release:
kmod-amneziawgamneziawg-toolsluci-proto-amneziawg
They are out-of-tree packages, based on WireGuard, and are maintained for OpenWrt 23.05 through 25.12 here: https://github.com/Slava-Shchipunov/awg-openwrt
Prebuilt modules from that project don't load on photonicatWrt, because the module has to match your kernel build (vermagic). So it would need to be built in your build system.
Right now the only option on Photonicat is userspace AWG inside a proxy (Mihomo). On an LTE uplink it gets stuck after every connection drop and has to be restarted, and it won't scale to 5G or gigabit speeds. A kernel module would fix both problems.
If adding the packages isn't possible, publishing the OpenWrt SDK for each release would also help: then users could build the module themselves.
Thanks!
